 Description

Prague, Czechoslovakia Jan. 16, 1969 - Jan Palach, a student at Charles University, protesting the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact forces, doused himself with flammable liquid and set himself aflame on Wenceslas Square.

Prague, Czech Republic Oct. 7, 2006 - performer Mare Bulc re-enacted Palach's gesture in the same square standing still on top of a podium paraphrasing street artists who act only when passers-by provide them with a pecuniary contribution.
