RE:akt! - meaning not only "to act again" but "to respond to/react upon" and "Regarding: act!"- confronts current ideological and intellectual canons, power structures, policies, and distribution channels by re-enacting selected historical events. Through processes of analysis, deconstruction, re-enactment and (re-)reporting, the intermedia research and presentation project RE:akt! examine's media's role(s) in manipulating perceptions and creating (post)modern historical myths and contemporary mythology.

The english word used to describe these actions (re-enactment) has to be linked with the english neologism enaction coined by the biologist and theorist Francisco Varela, which stresses the active engagement of an organism with the environment as the cornerstone of the organism's developement, an the constitution of perception through guided actions rather through passive recording of events.

Mount Triglav on Mount Triglav

LJUBLJANA, August 7, 2007
On Monday, August 6, 2007, Slovenian artists Janez Janša, Janez Janša and Janez Janša performed the action entitled Triglav on Triglav.
The action was performed for the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the death of Jakob Aljaž, the 33rd anniversary of the Footpath from Vrhnika to Mount Triglav, the 5th anniversary of the Footpath from the Wörthersee Lake across Mount Triglav to the Bohinj Lake, the 25th anniversary of the publication of Nova Revija magazine and the 20th anniversary of the 57th issue of Nova Revija, the fundamental publication of the SLOVENIAN SPRING, and the 16th anniversary of the independent state of Slovenia. The action is conceived on the re-enactment of the famous work by the OHO group entitled Gora Triglav (Mount Triglav), which was performed by group members Milenko Matanović, David Nez and Drago Dellabernardina on December 30, 1968, at the Zvezda Park in Ljubljana. In 2004, the Irwin group performed the action on the same location within their Like to Like series, which is about reinterpreting individual actions of the OHO group.
With their action Triglav on Triglav, Janša, Janša and Janša continue the tradition of conceptual art in Slovenia, at the same time raising the issue of the ideological association of events from remote and recent history. [more]

Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler ordered in 1941 the development of the world's first inflatable sex doll meant to serve the sexual needs of the German fighting man. The officer directly responsible for the sex doll project was S.S. commander Heinrich Himmler. The plan was never put into action because the factory that was supposed to manufacture the sex dolls was in the city of Dresden, which was bombed by the Allies. And so Hitler never got to become the "father of the inflatable doll."
